Who are Horace and Sylvia? Horace and Sylvia lived in a small house my grandfather had built on South 9th Street, Lindenhurst, N.Y. Growing up as a child I remember their home always being filled with family, friends, Joy and Laughter. Some of my fondest memories of my Grandfather were his garden, the smoke house he made out of an old refrigerator, that he would smoke all the fish we would catch during the summer. My grandmother automatically made you feel welcome. She would greet anyone for the first time with a kiss and her trade mark “Hiya Hun”. They never had much money, but were rich in many ways. The idea of the “Publick House was to create a place where local people can meet friends, and family in a warm and comfortable environment. A place where they can feel at home and welcome, just like everyone did at that small house on south 9th street. I hope you enjoy yourself as much as we enjoy having you. Our goal at Horace and Sylvia’s is to provide a neighborhood, atmosphere with high quality food, attentive service and reasonable prices. We try to achieve this through using local and seasonal ingredients, as well as a varied and reasonably priced wine selection. |
